According to Arsyad Azhar (2005: 29), the development of media technology and teaching can be grouped into four groups, namely:
a. The print media technology
b. Media of audio-visual technology
c. Media technology that results based on computer
d. Media technology, a combination of print and computer
In line with this Leshin, Pollock and Reigeluth cited Arsyad Azhar (2005: 36), classify the media into five groups, namely:

– Group activities
b. Print-based media
– Book
– Exercise books (workbooks)
– Bantu work tool
– Loose sheets
c. Media-based visual
– Books
– Bantu work tool
– Draft
– Graph
– Map

– Slide
d. Media-based audio-visual
– Video
– Movies
– Slide-tape program
– Television
e. Media-based computer
– Teaching with the help of computer
– Interactive video
– Hypertext
While Kemp and Azhar Arsyad in Dayton (2005: 37), the media group into eight types, namely:
a. Print media
b. Media length
c. Overhead transparacies
d. Audiotape recording
e. Series of slides and filmstrips
f. Serving multi-image
g. Film and video recordings of life
h. Computer
